Coverage a Personal Auto Policy Covers for a Rental Car

Traveling soon and getting a rental car? Curious about what a personal auto policy covers when it comes to rental cars? Well, liability coverage will follow the insured while on vacation. Physical damage to a vehicle is not usually covered however. We recommend purchasing this coverage from the rental company when getting the vehicle. We also highly suggest taking a close look at the vehicle both internally and externally both before and after using the rental car to ensure you do not get falsely accused of causing damage you may not have done. All this being said, when traveling to a foreign country a personal auto policy does NOT cover unless it is specifically noted by the carrier. The amount of coverage your personal auto policy has while traveling may also differ based on the rental car agreement. Each contract and rental car company is different leading to differences in what is covered for the customer.
